From Garage Hobby to Design Tool for UV Printer Owners

Meet the Founder of Designed By Fetch

Hi, I’m Mike Montpetit, the founder and owner of Designed By Fetch.

I’m not a graphic designer. I’m a maker, a tinkerer, and a creator.

In 2023 I got into design, silk screening, 3D printing, and laser engraving. This initially started as a creative outlet, spending my evenings in my garage in Ottawa, Ontario, testing, learning, and creating designs.

Because I’m not a designer and artist, I struggled with the design process. I loved it—but it was frustrating at the same time! I was making single-colour vector designs in Adobe Illustrator, not easy for a non-designer.

Buying a eufyMake UV printer allowed me to create full-colour designs and new custom products including ceramic fridge magnets, tumblers, wall art, with endless possibilities.

But I still lacked the design skills to bring my visions and imagination to life.

I spent hours on YouTube learning how to use complicated software and less time designing and creating.

I was in the same frustrating loops as so many Etsy sellers, makers, craft fair vendors, and small shops who aren’t graphic designers first. After watching lots of tutorials, I realized that I could use AI to help me bring my designs to life.

Very quickly I recognized that I needed a way to create templates for my most popular products. So I put on my software developer hat and built what I needed.

I realized that my templates and prompts could help other makers and UV printer, laser engraving, sublimation enthusiasts create custom designs with absolutely no design experience.

Fast forward to March 2026 and the launch of Designed By Fetch.

Now with Designed By Fetch, if you can imagine it—you can create it.

I’m super proud of Designed By Fetch and the growing community of dedicated makers, UV printer owners, and creators who are using the platform to create and prep their designs for personal use, Etsy shops, and craft shows.

Designed By Fetch proves that if you have an idea, you can bring it to life. What started as solving a problem for myself so I could get more enjoyment out of my equipment has become a small business that I’m passionate about.

I now run a Canon PIXMA iX6820, xTool P3 laser engraver and a eufyMake E1 UV printer and Designed By Fetch to create and sell custom products.
